Katie Alaniz, EdD, serves as Associate Dean for the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences Online and Director of the Center for Learning Innovations and Teaching Excellence (C-LITE), where she also teaches undergraduate and graduate education courses. As an educator and digital learning specialist for over two decades in both public and private schools, Dr. Alaniz guides fellow educators as they meaningfully integrate digital tools and resources within their classrooms. Dr. Alaniz has authored or co-authored a number of books, including听Naturalizing Digital Immigrants: The Power of Collegial Coaching for Technology Integration;听Digital Media in Today’s Classroom: The Potential for Meaningful Teaching, Learning, and Assessment;听Collegial Coaching: Mentoring for Knowledge and Skills That Transfer to Real-World Applications;听The Maximizer Mindset: Work Less, Achieve More, Spread Joy;听Authentic Assessment in Action: An Everyday Guide for Bringing Learning to Life through Meaningful Assessment;听A Learning Community Built on Strengths: Inspiring Educators to Positively Impact Student Lives;听and听Authentic Learning and Artificial Intelligence: Leveraging the Tools of the Age for Transformative Teaching and Learning. Additionally, she has delivered hundreds of educational presentations across the United States and abroad, given a TEDx Talk, and published academic articles on a range of topics. Her primary research interests include authentic assessment, digital learning, collegial coaching, and teacher education. Dr. Alaniz and her husband, Steven, enjoy serving together at Sagemont Church in Houston.
